Prof. Kazuhiko Igarashi

Prof. Igarashi's research stemmed from interests in cell differentiation during his training at a medical school. Prof. Igarashi took graduate trainings at Tohoku University (Prof. Hiroshi Okamoto) and National Institute of Genetics, Japan (Prof. Akira Ishihama), and postdoctoral training at the University of Chicago, USA (Prof. Bernard Roizman). After serving as Assistant Professor at Tohoku University (with Prof. Norio Hayashi), Lecturer at Tsukuba university (with Prof. Masayuki Yamamoto), Associate Professor at Tohoku University (with Prof. Norio Hayashi), and Professor at Hiroshima University School of Medicine, he moved back to Tohoku University in 2005 and has been leading the Department of Biochemistry.

Member of Japan Biochemical Society, Molecular Biology Society of Japan, Japanese Cancer Association, and American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Editorial board member of Journal of Biological Chemistry.
